Since we last opened the doors of the Singles Club for its fortnightly iteration, we have received around 200 submissions for much sought-after inclusion on our playlist. Obviously we have been able to profile some of these as and when they are released via our hugely popular #DailyPick feature, but now it’s time for our regular round-up of some of the other hottest sounds to have found their way onto our deathdecks and into our aural memory bands over the past two weeks:

The Loyal Cheaters – ‘Dynamite’ (Go Down Records)

Kicking things off in explosive style, these German/Italian action rockers are definitely blowing things up with this, the second single from their equally incendiary new album, ‘And All Hell Broke Loose‘, which is released this very Friday and is guaranteed to set your hardened old rock ‘n’ soul on fire:

As I May – ‘The Last Breath’ (Self-Released)

Proving that its Halloween all year ’round here at URHQ, these Finnish horrorcore terrorists definitely, and defiantly, won’t be breathing their last any time soon, as this is the first bloody taste of their forthcoming, as-yet-untitled third album… just don’t lsiten to it deep in the woods late at night!

Hope Darling – ‘Say A Prayer’ (Epictronic)

The Florida rockers tug at the heartstrings with this emotional tribute to loved ones who have travelled beyond the stars, taken from their latest album, ‘Ensō‘, itself the result of three years of careful crafting and development:

Nate Silva – ‘Come Down’ (Self-Released)

The former frontman of Canadian proggies The Slydemakes his second appearance at the Club in as many months, as he continues to set the stage for the release of his highly impressive debut solo album at the beginning of next month:

Luiz Bruno And The Adult Children – ‘Kids Vaping On The Double Decker Bus’ (1Selo/Pecan Crazy Records/Tal & Tal Records)

By far our favourite song title of this playlist is also that of the latest single to be released under his own name by the Brazilian-born guitarist and composer who has spent the last decade trying to prove is that he is alternatively an alien and the re-incarnation of Frank Zappa via his prodigious output of lo-fi psychedelia. The track his taken from his latest album, ‘Chicken Dinner‘, which should be a definite winner winner (sorry – not) when it comes out next Friday (26 April):

Gaffa Tape Sandy ‘ Dead To Me’ (Alcopop! Records)

We’re certainly not dead to the charms of this exuberant Brighton garage punk trio and we won’t need a second invitation to hold their hands (sic) and have a listen, or several, to their new album when it comes out at the end of May:

Mammoth Penguins – ‘Flyers’ (Fika Recordings)

Following on from the single with the best title we have the band with the best name of this edition, and the Cambridge indie popsters are sharing their experiences of life as independent musicians with this latest cut, to be released right ‘HERE‘ on 3 May…

Trifecta – ‘Once Around The Sun With You’ (Kscope)

How do give a band with an impeccable pedigree – after all they are made of former members of Steve Wilson’s band (we’ll ignore the fact that frontman Nick Beggs once did the same with Kajagoogoo) – even more, well, impeccably pedigreed? Well, how about throwing Rush legend Alex Lifeson into the mix? Which is exactly what they did on this final single to be released ahead of their recent new album, ‘The New Normal‘:

FM – ‘Don’t Need Another Heartache’ (Frontiers Music)

The AOR legands are proving that ‘Old Habits Die Hard‘ with the release of their latest studio album in two weeks’ time, and they’re giving us a taste of what to expect on the accompanying 40th anniversary tour, with the video shot on their recent South American dates:

Collateral – ‘On The Long Road’ (Big Shot Records)

Always seeking to make logical connections, FM will be supported on some their upcoming dates by rising melodic rock dahlngs Collateral, who are taking things literally with this appropriately titled second extract from the upcoming sophomore chapter in their building storyline, That album, ‘Should’ve No Better‘, is released on 24 May – and NWoCR definitely will know better than to miss out on it…

We Three Kings – ‘ Buried Alive’ (Self-Released)

Another band gracing the club decks for the second time in as many months, these high-energy, no-nonsense, fuzzed-up garage rock veterans have delivered yet another gem which promises that 2024 will indeed be a sparkling year for the combo:

Memphis May Fire ‘ ‘Chaotic’ (Rise Records)

MMF return to action with this visceral and exemplary slice of metalcore which delivers exactly what we would expect from the band, and that catchier-than-Covid choruses, neck-straining pit-stirring breakdowns – and a touch of EDM thrown into the pot for just a bit of added spice:

Krang – ‘Cowabunga’ (SBÄM)

These Czech skate punks are summoning their inner mutant turtle alter egos with this superbly fun clip from their movie-themed new album, ‘Listens To Krang Once’, which also features tributes to ALF, Marty McFly and Rory Gilmore. I doubt we’ll not be doing what the album suggests but giving it more than a few spins on the ÜRHQ deathdecks come its release on 3 May:

Gurt – ‘Knife Fever’ (When Planets Collide)

Five years after these party-hardy riffers released their debut album, they are back in style, with what might well be the first doom metal song about having a vasectomy – guaranteed to make you grimace, grin and gurn all at the same time:

DeltaWulf – ‘Out All Night’

Having previously toured with the likes of The Struts and The Pigeon Detecitves, this one-man project decided to take a new direction, taking influences from the likes of Tom Petty, Eddie Money, Bryan Adams and even Rn’B inspired rhythms and hooks to relay his love of classic rock anthems… ah, those were the nights:

Templeton Pek – ‘Savages’ (Drakkar Entertainment)

Last time around we had two singles named after sports and movie stars. This time we have a band named after one of the most iconic characters from Eighties Saturday night TV… although this mob definitely aren’t faking it and firing blanks as they make a very welcome return to hard rockin’ action after too long away:

Capstan – ‘What You Want’ (Fearless Records)

Another band making a more than welcome return to the Club, this Florida post-hardcore emo five-piece are once again giving us exactly what we want with another piece of ‘The Mosaic‘ that is going into making up their latest, due out this time next month:

Red Hand Denial – ‘One More Night’ (Personal Vacation Records)

This is the second single from Toronto electronica/future bass-infused metallers upcoming new album, ‘A Journey Through Virtual Dystopia‘, which address the subject of our over-reliance on technological forms of so-called communication and interaction and their impact on our mental health:

Black Diamonds – ‘Only For A While’ (Metalopolis)

We’ve only got a little while left, but we’ve time for a power ballad that came at us just as we were putting the finishing touches to the playlist. An archetypal ‘Eighties style lighter-waver that undoubtedly will help the band, and us, along on our journey to ‘Destination Paradise‘ – which just happens to be the title of their upcoming second album! What a coincidence!

Knives – ‘Doppelganger’ (Hound Gawd!)

Our penultimate track sees these Bristol post-punk rebels taking a defiant and vitriolic swipe at the curse of homophobia and queer-bating that somehow manages to survive in today’s liberal music business – and does in an extremely tasty appetizer from their acerbic new EP, ‘What We See In Their Eyes’, out on 3 May:

SeeYouSpace Cowboy – ‘Lubricant Like Kerosene’ (Pure Noise Records)

Finally for this time around, the neo-hoir post-hardcore crue have just staged a ‘Coup de Grace‘ with their third album, from which this is the latest single to emerge in almost as many weeks. Following on from their previously featured ‘To The Dance Floor For Shelter‘, this is another collaboration, this time with Tasmanian Tik-Tok sensation KIm Dracula:

Well, there you have, another eclectic mix of sounds to tickle your eardrums. We hope you’ve found something to do just that – and that you continue to do so every single day right here on the website that agitates the parts others just dream of reaching… until then, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ \m/
