Artwork for Hysterical Cold Side & Dark Memories by The KrueggersI hope you are ready for a trip back to the ‘90s because there is no question where the influence came for this album. ‘Hysterical Cold Side & Dark Memories’ would be perfectly at home being released back then next to albums by Nirvana or Korn. As well as having some hints of an older influence mixed in there. Perhaps a little bit of stoner or ‘’60s rock thrown in for good measure. It all comes together very well into a very honest album that comes from a place of passion.

Like I said above the sound fits right in with the likes of Nirvana and similar music with that grunge/nu metal sound, but I also feel like I hear some Hendrix in there. Perhaps the sound he would go for if he were in this era instead. It’s tuned way down but there is a little of that 60s rock hidden in there, kinda like garlic in mashed potatoes. It might not be a required ingredient, but it does make a noticeable addition to the flavor. Continuing with that old school theme they have some nice guitar solos mixed in. this is, as always, very welcome.

When it comes to the vocals, I’m not entirely sure what to say. They are dead on what I would expect and want here. That angry vocal fry that is a signature of the genre. There really is nothing to complain about. Randy is the perfect man to front this band. He was born for it.

Lyrically, things can get a little repetitive. While normally, for me, this is a negative, here, it is a positive. With this genre, things should be a little repetitive as long as it is not overdone. Here it definitely is not overdone. Instead what we have is a collection of tracks that are not over complicated but, rather, are easy to get into and chill. They don’t demand too much attention to figure out. It is a very relaxed album that adds to whatever environment you are in.

This is a great album that you really owe it you yourself to listen to. It is dripping with passion and is put together wonderfully. There is no question in my mind that this was a work of love and I think the band should be extremely proud of what they have made. This is a must-have in your collection. Don’t let yourself miss out.

‘Hysterical Cold Side & Dark Memories’ is released tomorrow (Friday 10 January). You can get your copy HERE.
