When I think of New York City, I immediately think of the good ol’ days of in-your-face rock n’ roll at CBGB’s. The Idolizers, hailing from nearby Brooklyn, NY, totally fit that vibe with their debut self-titled EP, which has killer album artwork by Mort Todd by the way!
Embodying the spirit of The Stooges and New York Dolls, The Idolizers still maintain their own infectious punk/garage/glam sound. These real deal punk rockers hit us from every angle with soaring vocals, crunchy riffs, blistering leads, and thunderous percussion. There’s no doubt you’ll have your stereo cranked up to 11!
Right out of the gate you get thrust into the hard rock groove with ‘Stranded (Again)’ and it’s larger than life riffs and leads. I was immediately hooked and wanting more! ‘Golden Days’ is an up-tempo headbanger delivering New York style punk rock goodness and quite possibly my favorite track off the EP!
‘Exile on Pain Street’ gives an early Rolling Stones feel with the band’s own twist and there’s absolutely no slowing down on the closing track ‘She’s A Killer’, which is a KISS-esque ripper with guitar licks reminiscent of the legendary Ace Frehley!
I hope this album comes with a disclaimer because you might blow out your speakers from turning it up so loud! Make sure you pick up a copy via Rum Bar Records.
