“Ain’t gonna stop until I stop it, ain’t gonna let it go until I drop it”, growls Eddie Spaghetti on the first track off this, Supersuckers’ 13th studio album. And certainly, despite having been blasting out their brand of raw, gasoline and whiskey-fuelled no frills garage punk ‘n’ roll for some 30 years now, the frontman and his bandmates show no sign of slowing down, never mind stopping – and, on this evidence probably will indeed drop dead while playing their own brand of rock ‘n’ roll.

There are certain bands from whom you know exactly what to expect before you slip their latest album onto your deathdeck. AC/DC, Motörhead, Status Quo, ZZ Top… they haven’t tended to stray too far from the musical formula which established their reputations. From the first couple of seconds of this album, John B could tell he was going to like it. However, he was wrong, he did not just like it. He loved it. There is something special about female lead metal. JB thinks it is the tone that is commonly associated with a female voice and how it contrasts with the aggressive tone of the guitar and drums. Doors open 30 minutes late, which bodes badly for getting home and subsequent long-distance travel to the next day’s live music shenanigans…
