It had been more than a few hot minutes – some three-plus months in fact – since Monk and DQ had last climbed the narrow stairs to their favourite Belfast venue and watering hole for an evening of mad midweek metallic mayhem… but, then, with often competing shift patterns, the bosses have to pick and choose what gigs they’re able to attend, and this was one they definitely (and defiantly) weren’t going to miss, as Californian power trio Night Demon made a very welcome and overdue return to UR’s home city \m/

A sunny day, warm temperatures and an hour’s train ride mean a couple of alcoholic beverages were in store for DJ Astrocreep in the build-up to see A.A. Williams finally headline after being so struck by her live performance at the fringe part of the Sheffield Tramlines festival a few years ago. A couple of libations under his belt, it was time for the sole support act of the evening in Zetra, a band whom our live editor Jase, who accompanied the big lad, had warned him about beforehand.

What a bloody lovely warm day it was in Manchester, absolutely ideal for cramming into a toasty dark box to get your ears blasted to bits by some blackened prog death courtesy of Australia’s Ne Obliviscaris! On this tour we’ve got a band that’s been on Jase W’s to-see list for an extremely long time after he missed them playing Manchester years ago at Ruby Lounge (RIP), Persefone. Not only them though, but Asymmetric Universe as well, so we’ve got a real trifecta treat tonight.
