A. A. Williams/Zetra – Manchester, Deaf Institute – 22 May 2023

A sunny day, warm temperatures and an hour’s train ride mean a couple of alcoholic beverages were in store for DJ Astrocreep in the build-up to see A.A. Williams finally headline after being so struck by her live performance at the fringe part of the Sheffield Tramlines festival a few years ago. A couple of libations under his belt, it was time for the sole support act of the evening in Zetra, a band whom our live editor Jase, who accompanied the big lad, had warned him about beforehand.

Following the previous week’s efforts with The Ruts DC, it was back across to Manchester for another night at the Academy for DJ Astrocreep, with one of the finest latest pub punk upstarts The Chats, ably supported by two more acts. On this tour we’ve got a band that’s been on Jase W’s to-see list for an extremely long time after he missed them playing Manchester years ago at Ruby Lounge (RIP), Persefone.
