The Uber Rock Approved stampIt’s been another busy week here at ÜRHQ and what better way to unwind than by once again throwing open the doors of the Uber Kingdom’s most exclusive club and sharing another playlist of the hottest tunes to have burning up both our deathdecks and our eardrums in recent days? Well, we can’t think of one, so let’s dive straight in, turn the volume up to neighbour annoying volumes and crack open a few of our favourite beverages, shall we? Well, OK, if you insist…

All For Jolly ‘New Era’ (Self-Released)

We kick off with a slice of suitably rambunctious Celtic-tinged folk punk rowdiness from these Cornish rapscallions, who are preparing us for the release of their self-titled album with this firecracker of an opening salvo:

Anika ‘Walk Away’ (Sacred Bones Records)

The British-born Berlin-based alt-rocker – the much more street cred nom-de-plume of one Annika Henderson – returns to the club’s playlist for the second time in less than a month with the second single of her upcoming debut album, due for release at the beginning of April:

blanket ‘Levitate’ (Self-Released)

The shoegazing Blackpool post-punks continue their rise (sic) with this first taster of their upcoming third album, details of which will be announced in the near future:

Dutch Nuggets ‘Plastic Lives’ (Thousand Islands Records/Bearded Punk Records)

The third and final single from the upcoming concept album by the Montreal skate punks, which has taken them a full decade to craft and mould:

Emerald Sunday ‘Losing Ground’ (Self-Released)

The Scottish indie rockers, who hail from the same town as Bon Scott, are far from living up to the title of their latest single but rather gaining momentum, not least thanks to the support of Embrace’s Richard McNamara and a recent collab with Sandi Thom:

FangSlinger ‘Bare Your Teeth’ (Self-Released)

The theatrical trio combine gothic imagery with heavy country blues swagger, fusing tribal rhythms, heavy guitars and dark seductive vocals, tailor-made for fans of Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Ghost:

Forgetaboutit ‘No Way Out’ (Self-Released)

Having previous asked #WhatWentWrong in these very pages last October, the Oslo punks could find #NoWayOut of being included for a second time with this second taster of their upcoming second album:

Garrow Hill ‘Camouflage’ (Self-Released)

This York duo combine alt-rock and post-punk with sleazy, thrashy NWoBHM tropes on their latest standalone single, which explores the hidden layers every one of us possesses:

Gypsy Pistoleros ‘Last Train To Nowhere’ (Earache)

The renegade glunksters take us on an apocalyptic rollercoaster ride straight into the darkened depths of oblivion and back again, as they invite us to join the ‘Church Of The Pisoleros’, a movement for the bold, unconventional and outcast, with the upcoming release of their new album later in the Spring.

Heathcliff ‘Keep This Light Going’ (Double Helix Records/SBÄM Records/Bearded Punk Records)

These German crossover skatepunks have just written us some ‘Postcards From A ParaHell Universe’, in the shape of their third album, of which this is a suitably illuminating sample:

L.A. Witch ‘The Lines’ (Suicide Squeeze Records)

The Californian trio continue to blur the boundaries between darkwave, psychedelia and punk on this latest extract from their upcoming new album, due on 4 April:

Mavis ‘Sentinel Hill’ (Arising Empire)

The German metalcore quartet continue their fantastical exploration of the clash between man and nature with this latest D&D-infused episode of their apocalyptic musical tale:

Mother Misery ‘The Predator’ (Doc Gator Records)

The Swedish melodic rockers teamed up with David ‘DaKe’ Isberg (Days Of Jupiter/Opeth) to add a different twist to this standalone release from the sessions that birthed their latest album, ‘From Shadow To Ghost’:

Robert Jon & The Wreck ‘Long Gone’ (Journeyman Records)

The SoCal blues rock powerhouses prepare for their upcoming tour, which kicks off in The Netherlands on 10 April and finishes in Portsmouth on 15 May, with this collaborative songwriting venture with the legendary John Oates:

Starset ‘dark things’ (Self-Released)

The sci-fi inspired progressive metallers take us on a trip into the depths of obsession and self-destruction with this standalone offering:

The Pretty Wild ‘Button Eyes’ (Sumerian Records)

The metaphysical metalcore siblings have been busy of late, first of all teaming up with Kittie and Diamante for a haunting reimagining of Metallica’s ‘The Unforgiven’ and now addressing objectification with their latest standalone release – with the promise of more to come in the not too distant future…

The Vice ‘From The Barricades’ (Noble Demon)

The Swedish dark metallers prove their point that “sometimes rock ‘n’ roll shouldn’t be more complicated than one middle finger and zero f*cks to give” with this punky opening taster of their just released new EP, which itself is the first in a series of such formatted releases:

Vendetta Love ‘Traced Out’ (Self-Released)

The Dublin grunge and sleaze inflected hard rockers are at perhaps their most raw and emotional with this tribute by singer Shawn Mullen to his late younger brother:

Vildhjarta ‘sargasso’ (Century Media)

The Swedish progressive metallers have built a career defined by combining mystique, dark atmospherics and a technically jarring sound, and are preparing to release their latest album, ‘där skogen sjunger under evighetens granar‘, at the end of May:

When Rivers Meet ‘Addicted To You’ (One Road Records)

We must admit to having become pretty addicted to this husband-and-wife blues rock duo since being enraptured by them at the Steelhouse Festival two summers back, and that infatuation seems set to continue with the upcoming release of their fourth album, due in May:

Whitehall ‘Malibu #2’ (Self-Released)

The shoegazing Brooklyn indie punks address the illusion of escape on the open road with this taster of their as-yet untitled new album, due for release some time towards the end of the year:

So, there you have it, our latest dynamic and eclectic selection. Hopefully we’ve opened your ears to some new sounds, and pointed you in the direction of some fine tuneage to kick your week off in style… Until next time, remember: keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ in the free world \m/
