I love a band with a name that immediately grabs you and wants you hear what the feck the actually sound like, and that certainly is the case with this rising Dublin psych-punk trio, who have delivered a new single that defiantly lives up to its name, delivering a fierce right hook with its bass-driven rhythm and jabbing fuzzy riffage:
Frontman Ciaran Fitz told me a bit more about the background to the song, which is their first new music since last year’s equally intriguingly titled ‘Kings Of Kimmage’ EP (itself just re-issued in remix format just two weeks ago):
This is definitely one of the most outright punkers we have, probably. ‘Scrunched Up Fist’ was literally written in the jam room in ten minutes. Matthew [Lynch – drums] and James [Hutcheon – bass/vocals] were just playing this thing as I was coming back from a smoke, and I knew I had lyrics in my phone that would work with it.
