Über Rock has launched a new podcast highlighting the grassroots music business across the ÜK and beyond.
Each Monday, ‘Small Stages Big Sounds’, hosted by David O’Neill, looks at what is happening with independent bands and venues and the music business at its most local level.
In the first episode, broadcast last Monday (7 October), David looked at the scene in ÜR’s birthplace of south Wales:
In the second episode, to be broadcast this evening (Monday 14 October), ÜR boss Monk will look at the scene in Belfast and Northern Ireland, including revealing details of new three-door indoor classic rock festival.
David and Monk will also discuss the recent Music Venue Trust report on the challenges facing touring bands in the current economic climate and the proposal to impose a levy on arenas to support grassroots venues in their localities.
Episode three will look at the scene in Liverpool, Manchester and the north-west in general, with episode four focuessing on The Netherlands and the different approach the government there has to funding artists and venues compared to the ÜK. Upcoming editions of the show will feature interviews with Mark Davyd, founder and CEO of the Music Venue Trist, and Max Rhead of Steelhouse Festival.
