It is literally the hottest night of the year here in ÜR’s home city, when the sky will turn red with the heat of a hundred fires lit in the name of (to misquote Marillion) some long forgotten cause subsumed by that to get hellishly drunk on a combination of Buckfast and WKD and subsequently either piss it out against the nearest wall or chuck it up all over the bonnet of nearest conveniently parked drug dealer’s Audi… But, no matter how intense the heat gets, it won’t be as hot as the sounds blasting from our death decks as we bring you yet another selection of the best rock ‘n’ rollin’ sounds to have tickled our aural fancy over the past seven days…

This funk/grunge/Latino-infused Canadian alt-rock quartet return our playlist for the second time this year as they turn depression into a battlecry on this latest standalone offering:

This Cumbrian singer-songwriter has music in his DNA – his uncle is Francis Dunnery of prog vets It Bites – as he once again proves on this return to the Club playlist, which is inspired by his obsession with the US version of the comedy ‘The Office’:

Our final selection sees these Brooklyn alt-rockers delivering a blunt-force reckoning with self-destruction, failed therapy, and a mind too cluttered with static to find its way out with this darkly confessional track that sits at the crossroads of Queens of the Stone Age’s desert menace and Nirvana’s coiled fury:
So, there you have it, another succinct but beautifully formed selection to kick off a new rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ week in… well, rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ style.
