So, here we are, batterin’ and breezin’, poundin’ ‘n’ pummellin’, stompin’ ‘n’ strollin’ into the dirty heart and soul of another busy rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ month here in the Überverse… We’ve the death decks fully cranked up, and the amps set so loud that the Trumpinator is threatening to declare them a weapon of mass distraction and launch a tactical strike on the dank back alleys of Belfast… but, we know he secretly struts around the Oval Office in his tightest purple spandex, bangin’ along to each and every playlist, so we invite you to join him (and us), grab a chilled beer or three, turn your woofers and tweeters up to neighbour-enlightening volume, settle into your favourite studded leather armchair and enjoy our latest selection of the hottest aural delights to have come our way over the past seven days:
Bakken ‘Demon In You’ (Self-Released)
We start on our home turf, where the Northern Ireland classic metallers return from a five-year long silence with this lead track from their just-released third album, which saw us freely giving ‘Consent To Deception’ when it finally hit our deathdecks just a couple of days ago:
Cast Of The Wanderer ‘Make It Alone’ (Wicked Cool Records)
This is exactly what it suggests – an excerpt from the upcoming OST recording of the musical based on the life of Dion DiMucci, with the added bonus of having been produced by the insanely talented Stevie Van Zandt… as well as the subject himself:
Cobra Queen ‘Drop It’ (SODEH Records)
This trap-pop alt-rocker is commanding our dancefloor with this latest offering, which combines the attitudes of both The Pretty Reckless and Kesha into a heady TikTok friendly mash:
Dark Hearts ‘Gun’ (Dazy Records)
These Scottish gothic alt-rockers tell stories of dark nights, terrible angels and revenge, with some added retro cool, as shown on this latest offering (which, we hasten to add, is not a tribute to their fellow countrymen):
Destroy The Moon ‘Hands Of God’ (SODEH Records)
The Pennsylvanian nu-metal grunge-inflected alt-rockers explore psychological breakdown on their latest standalone offering:
Evel Frehley ‘Lock Me Up’ (Self-Released)
Grace De Gier ‘Done’ (Self-Released)
This Netherlands-based modern alt-rock duo mix the flair and passion of the singer’s Colombian heritage with sassy pop nuances very much in the mould of The Cranberries:
Kabuki ‘Festival Of Flowers’ (Self-Released)
The latest re-issue from the pink-loving London emo pop metallers, who have been treating us to choice cuts from their back catalogue ahead of new material later this year:
Levinia ‘Bite’ (Self-Released)
The Los Angeles cinematic gothic symphonic metallers open the third of their four chapter singles cycle with this re-imagining of the tale of one of the central characters from Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’:
Powerlöad ‘Drunk In A Taxi Cab’ (Self-Released)
The Canadian sleaze rockers recreate an experience with many of us are probably sadly familiar on this latest cut from their upcoming new album, which they will put ‘In The Pocket‘ at the end of this month:
Pythonic ‘Set Me Free’ (Self-Released)
We stay in Canada (wtf are they putting in the beer there?) from where these groove metallers emerge with this second sample of their upcoming third EP, which will see them laying down the ‘Laws Of Karma‘ next month:
Sakoya ‘Strangers’ (Adventure Cat Records)
We’re heading down into the heartland of the ÜS Midwest, Indiana to be precise, from where these three Noughties metalcore enthusiasts unleash their latest standalone offering, a sample of material on which they’re working in collaboration with Breaking Benjamin’s Keith Wallen:
Shotgun Sawyer ‘You’ll Never Get Your Chains On Me’ (Ripple Music)
The Californian blues rockers return with a new line-up and their first new music since recruiting a second guitarist to expand their sound:
The Cocktail Slippers ‘This Town’ (Wicked Cool Records)
Our penultimate offering sees these Norwegian power-poppin’ glunk queens paying tribute to their home city as they gear up to take us on a ‘Joyride’ when their latest album is released at the end of August:
The Rift ‘Plasticity’ (SODEH Records)
The LA progressive alt-rockers round out this week’s playlist with a blistering attack aimed at the music industry’s worst hypocritical offenders – the phony experts, award-chasers, and promoters who treat artists like product:
So, there you have it, our latest selections to kick off another new rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ week in… well… rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ style. We’ll be back same time, same place next week with another selection of the finest tunes which will have been embracing our eardrums in the intervening period. And don’t forget to check out our daily picks as well… In the meantime, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Röckin’ in the free world \m/
