The Uber Rock Approved stampAs we hurtle headlong towards the end of another busy rock ‘n’ roll month, the death decks one again are warmed up, the beers are cooling and the shorts are, well… shorted! So, without further ado, let’s paraphrase the words of the immortal David Coverdale and declare here we go again with another round up of the hottest hits that have been tickling our eardrums over the past week…

A Lost Asylum ‘Bad News Honey, Your Boyfriend’s A Pretty Boy’ (Golden Robot Records)

We love a catchy song title here at ÜRHQ, and so this follow-up to the debut EP from these Salt Lake City alt-rockers is a highly appropriate way to kick off our latest hitlist:

Desert Kites ‘Ostrich (Sleep Until I’m Dead)’ (SODEH Records)

We aren’t burying our heads in the sand when it comes to this standalone new offering from the Dundee alt-rock duo:

Hot Mulligan ‘It Smells Like Fudge Axe In Here’ (Wax Bodega Records)

Definitely delivering the strangest song title of this week’s selection, the post-emo quintet – who head out on tour with Pierce The Veil next month – have just shared #TheSoundABodyMakesWhenItsStill via the release of their fourth album:

Ivory Daze ‘IV League’ (Quiet Panic Records)

This New England all-female grunge/shoegaze trio have recently signed to the same label as the mighty Slow Crush, and signal their arrival with this first sample of their upcoming new EP:

Karate Steve ‘Gentrifier’ (Self-Released)

The Boston MA hardcore melodeath dealers present the first sample of their upcoming third album, due for release at the end of October:

Lot Lizards ‘Surprise Party’ (Punkerton Records)

Previously a #SinglesClub #DailyPick in their own right, the Florida melo-punks serve up another tasty appetizer from their recent debut album:

Mini Skirt ‘Pottsville River’ (Bad Reputation)

Five years after their debut outing, these Aussie pub-punks are about to take us on another sonic journey with their second full-length offering, from which this is the first dip of their oars into the waters of our aural appreciation:

Monvrchs ‘New Disease’ (Self-Released)

The Teesside metalcore mob draw inspiration from heavyweights like Polaris, While She Sleeps, Currents, Architects, Alpha Wolf, and Thrown, as is clearly evinced on their latest crushingly raw release:

Neil James Parkinson ‘Skylines’ (Self-Released)

The Scottish singer evokes the spirit of a young Ian Anderson in this acoustic-led folk rock tinged retrospective ballad, the origins of which trace its roots back to the pandemic yet updated to reflect its seemingly eternal consequences:

Nicolas Cage Fighter ‘The Executioner’ (Bleeding Art Collective/Blood Blast Distribution)

The Aussie metalcore quartet, who have our favourite band name of the week, are preparing to explain how they watched us burn when their new album lands next month:

Roger Bacon ‘All My Life’ (Self-Released)

These Glaswegian indie post-punks have been making quite a name for themselves on the Scottish alt scene over the past year or so, and it’s not hard to see why with this latest offering:

Taylor Acorn ‘Hangman’ (Fearless Records)

The Nashville-based pop punk princess, who plays a one-off show in London next month, offers up another sample of her upcoming debut album, which has been ten years in the making and will see her becoming the latest #PosterChild for the genre:

The Barbarians Of California ‘Modern Fashion’ (Self-Released)

Living up to their name, this West Coast hardcore collective, featuring members of AWOLNation and Tinfed, continue to deliver an engaging new manifestation of iconoclastic spirit and true bombast with this metaphor for truly expressing yourself in whatever way you choose:

The Freqs ‘Jellyfish Cadaver’ (Self-Released)

The fuzzed-up psyched-out Massachusetts stoner trio release their first new music in almost two years, via this collaboration with Nicholas Pentabona of fellow Boston noiseniks Bedtimemagic:

The Len Price 3 ‘Gypsy Magick’ (Wicked Cool Records)

The garage rock stalwarts – who ironically don’t feature anyone called Len Price (but are a trio) – offer up their first new album in four years next month, with this being the magic(k)al second sample to be sent our way:

The Mean Times ‘Hook, Line & Sinker’ (Golden Robot Records)

These Melbourne alt-rockers definitely have landed us in their net with this latest sample of their upcoming new album, which we probably couldn’t #FeelMoreDumb if we miss out on it when it comes our way next month:

The Noisy ‘Grendadine’ (Audio Antihero)

Poet Sarah Mae will be cooking up a distinctive recipe when they prove that #TheSecretIngredientIsMoreMeat with the release of a deluxe edition of their originally self-released debut album in October:

So, there you have it, our latest dynamic and eclectic selection. Hopefully we’ve opened your ears to some new sounds, and pointed you in the direction of some fine tuneage to kick your new rock ‘n’ roll week off in style… Until next time, remember: keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ in the free world \m/
