Petesy Burns, stalwart of the Belfast punk scene for more than 40 years, has died following a short illness. He was 63 years old.
A founding member of anarcho-punk collective Stalag 17 and subsequently FUAL, Pete went on to be guitarist with The Outcasts from 2011 – 2022. A multi-talented musician, he also played bass in XSLF and drums for The Hoakers and Northern Ireland punk “supergroup” Shame Academy, as well as many other local punk acts.
Off stage, he was an active champion of the Belfast music scene, as one of the driving forces behind legendary venues such as Giro’s and The Warzone.
