Well, between global pandemics and brainless trumpets and wankers in charge of two of the biggest so-called “superpowers”, it has to be accepted that this is the general perception… not that we discuss politics here on Über Rock, of course, but I feel that this an apposite introduction to this very relevant, and justifiably angry, album.

I first came across Scottish hardcore ragers RSDB when they released their incisive, in every way, debut album, ‘[You Will Burn]’, back in 2016. It was a powerful piece of work: brutal, uncompromising, unrepentant in its anger and yet possessed of a sensibility belied by the pure intensity of its fury. It has taken them four years to follow up that dynamic debut – but, holy fuck, has it been worth the wait? Of course, it fucking has…

If there can be any doubt that a band would lose any of their fury, their anger, their passion by taking a break as long as four years between albums, then ‘The World Is Fucked’ dispels any such myths. In fact, if anything, it is even angrier, even fiercer, even more recalcitrant than its predecessor.

It’s also a lot bleaker, a dark sense of despair underlying its barrage of acidity, one of raging against the resignation of the inability to change the circumstances bound by the inevitability of the fact that, no matter how much, how hard, we try to do so we cannot, because the sheep will always follow the lemmings over the precipice of beckoning oblivion. This statement is in no to diminish the power of ‘The World Is Fucked’, because that in itself is self-evident. It rages, it boils and it broils, it pummels and punishes – but, above all, it demands to be heard, and that demand should be answered, all across the Überverse, as it also a highly accomplished and erudite collection of thoughtfully-crafted hardcore songs that will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with anything else this particular subgenre has to offer.
