Looking back through the socials of the band, David O’Neill is surprised he’s not come across them on the South Wales music scene over the past 12 years, that is how long they have been together! It’s a hell of a commitment to continue with a project over that period. Searching Spotify, you’ll come across a heavier rock album, ‘Bad News Makes Big Noise’, released in 2009. Dave wonders if they were still finding their sound because there is a variety of styles on there, but it is mainly similar to this, their third album.

Having bought the ticket for this a few months ago when it was announced, it passed David O’Neill by that it was the same night as Wales v France in the Principality Stadium. It didn’t on the way to the gig! Traffic, no parking and a good few thousand in red and white scarfs reminded him. Anyway, the ticket was a lot cheaper and he thought it was going to be warmer, drier and more entertaining. ..

In case there were any doubts, this particular Friday night was proof that the Carolina metal scene is alive and well in the Queen City. It was the debut show for local band Laniidae and metal fans turned out in droves to show their support. The event took place at Amos’ Southend, a staple of live music in Charlotte, and one venue that has survived the gentrification of the South End neighborhood that was once home to light industries and older homes and is now filled with new high rises, craft breweries, and restaurants. It’s a spot that many hold close to their hearts and simply no better place for what would be a metal showcase for the ages.
