‘Raditude’ is, to me, long awaited, even though Weezer only released the ‘Red’ album back in 2008 – I just can’t live without new Weezer. While not to other’s tastes, I LOVE this band and the news of this album and the producers involved got me wet! Seeing as Jacknife Lee – who produced ‘Pork And Beans’ from the ‘Red’ album – was back on board along with Uber-producer Butch Walker! What’s not to love?
Having lived with this CD for a while I have come to love it – just like all the other Weezer albums and EP’s.
With the opening track of ‘(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To’ full of marvelous hand claps! (yeah, the spelling is right! M3 anyone?), this track sets the pace for the rest of this musical journey.
This band never ceases to amaze me as they continue to develop and hone their writing skills even further than ever before. Where Weezer used to be a River Cuomo writing outlet, on this latest album, the rest of the band contribute to the song writing, which takes this album ever higher and further out-there than ever before…..which, to my mindset, is a GREAT thing!
To break this down; if you like Weezer, you’re going to love it, however if you’re new to the ‘Weez’ this is their most ‘pop’ sounding album and it may take repeated listening to get into it, but the rewards are so enormous, you will wonder why it took you so long to find this band of musical mavericks!
It also has to be said that there is no point in getting the standard edition as for 2-3 pounds more you get four more awesome songs in the form of ‘Get Me Some’, ‘Run Over By A Truck’, ‘The Prettiest Girl In The Whole Wide World’ and ‘The Underdogs’ and these extra tracks pretty much complete the album…
