Video Of The Week: RavenEye – ‘Madeline’

Only launched last week, our new ‘Video Of The Week’ feature has already proven extremely popular, and we have received literally dozens of submissions for consideration. There are no strict criteria for consideration – although basic lyric videos do tend to get ignored right away: the choice is just down to what I think is the best combination of imagery and music. And it is on this basis that ‘Madeline’, the third single to be taken from RavenEye’s brilliant debut album ‘Nova’, just released on Friday, really stood out for me…

RavenEye founder/guitarist/singer Oli Brown said of the video:

“The song is about love in the darkest of places. The arguments you have with the one you love can be the worst,  the heat of that fight where you say the worst possible things you can imagine to each other. Our friend Greta Valenti put this story board to us and we fell in love with it. It ties into the relationship with the song, the relationship we have with love, what we do for it, what we sacrifice for it.”

By the time he was 25, singer/guitarist Oli Brown had been hailed by Mojo as “the hottest young pistol in British blues”, released four solo albums and toured the world for 10 years with legends such as Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy. Two years ago he gave all that up for the love of rock and RavenEye was born
