Über Röck’s Albums of the Year 2013

Written by Gaz E

If you’re one of those people, unwashed by the salty goodness of twelve months of pretty incredible music, then move your cursor to the latest social network campaign to get the safest ‘alternative’ song ever to the top of a chart that nobody with a clue gives a toss about and left-click your way to audio banality for another year. The rest of us? We’ll settle down with Über Röck’s Albums Of The Year 2013 article, still scratching our heads as to how we kept our respective list down to just twenty albums, still a little guilty at all the good albums and great bands that we had to leave off our rundowns, twenty never really being enough to fit in all our favourite long players from a year littered with choice releases.

Don’t agree? Move away from the Uber Rock – this website is not for you…

Having a pretty constant stream of enquiries for the last month or so as to when Uber Rock would be publishing this Best Albums list has been heartening to say the least, the number of people who obviously take what we, as a kickass collective, write and say seriously growing to the size of lizard mutated by nuclear waste, its wrath about to be unleashed on a Japanese city. And, as for the timing, what better time to detail the year’s best albums than the very last day of the year? There’ll be no favouritism towards US bands who just happen to be playing that major festival around the time of our award show here……

So, here it is, Über Röck’s Albums Of The Year 2013: the main players from ÜRHQ listing their Top 20 albums of the year, the results scored and dissected and number-crunched by the worker droids in the ÜR inner sanctum and compiled into the ultimate, definitive some would say (us, of course!), collective Top 20 albums of 2013.

Listen to a special three-hour edition of The Uber Rock Radio Show on New Year’s Day from 7-10pm where a song will be played from every one of the collective Top 20, its inclusion debated unmercifully. Listen on 97.3fm or online at www.brfm.co.uk
