Curated by Monk

The club’s deathdecks have been a bit quiet of late, with our regular Sunday call to worship at the altar of rock ‘n’f’n’ roll not being sounded on quite as regular basis as usual… But, to paraphrase the immortal words of Sir David Coverdale (anD what more appropriate deity to quote as this moment in time): here we go again  reborn, revitalized, and pummelling and pounding our way through another month of quality releases to bring you our latest pick of the hottest sounds that have been battering and tickling our eardrums over the past week. But, why waste inane and needless words… let’s dive straight into this week’s playlist, shall we?

1986 ‘Static Burn’ (Mosaic Music)

The Mancunian death metallers address the issues of self-perception and social media addiction on the third single to be lifted from their upcoming ‘Carniveil’ album, due for release early next year:

Ben Quad ‘All Your Luck’ (Pure Noise Records)

The third single to be issued from the New Jersey-based post-emo quartet’s recently released sophomore album:

DeadLetter ‘To The Brim’ (So Records)

These alt-rockers will be setting out to prove that ‘Existence Is Bliss‘ when they release their second album in February, but in the meantime they are filling our cup of anticipation to the brim with this lead single:

Edit The Tide ‘The Cost Of Standing Still’ (Self-Released)

The Bridgend alt-metallers are the latest in an increasingly long list of highly impressive young bands to emerge from the valleys of our birthplace of south Wales, and they prove why on this latest sample from their second EP, which will be released this coming Friday:

Einar Solberg ‘Stella Mortua’ (InsideOut Music)

The Leprous frontman has recently completed work on his second solo album, the first taster of which is this collaboration with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, which he describes as “one of the darkest and most grandiose pieces” he has written:

Fail The Enemy ‘Paper Dreams’ (Self-Released)

This Yorkshire electro-inspired alt-rock trio will be hoping that they’re not chasing the title of this, only their second single is something like three years:

Home Front ‘Between The Waves’ (La Vida Es Un Mus Discos)

The final single to be released as a preface to the Canadian alt/DIY punk five-piece’s new album, which itself was released this past Friday:

Hopeless Nation ‘Silverspoon’ (Self-Released)

The Quebecois hardcore-infused metallers break more than a decade of silence with the first in a series of five singles, which will in turn lead to a full EP at some point over the next 12 months:

Hot Face ‘Pink Liquor’ (Speedy Wunderground)

We’ll gladly imbibe in a sip or three of whatever illicit beverage these three London psychedelic punks are serving up, with this being the first sample sent our way from their upcoming debut album, being released in January:

Katana ‘Memories’ (SODEH Records)

The Ukrainian nu-metal/rapcore duo draw heavily on the ongoing traumatic events in their homeland on this latest sample from their upcoming new EP, ‘Alius’:

Keep This Up ‘Remedy’ (Self-Released)

The first taster from the Peterborough post-hardcore collective’s upcoming second EP, slated for release early next year:

Midhaven ‘The Veiler’ (Self-Released)

Proving that metal is indeed a universal language, these Mumbai heavy psych sludgers return with their first new music in four years – not that the delay should come as any surprise as they waited seven years between their first two albums:

mirabelle. ‘M3NT4L SHR3KDOWN’ (Self-Released)

The second of four new tracks to be released from the Parisian pop punks extended ‘Cremation Edition’ of their debut album:

Monachopsis ‘Letters From The Doomsday Vault’ (Self-Released)

The release this coming week of the latest EP from the UK melotech death dealers will see #TheCarcassChoir sing their threnodies from rotted throats, but not before our favourite undead postman delivers this latest missive from the underworld:

Ophelia’s Eye ‘Severance’ (Self-Released)

The title track from the upcoming new EP by the Swiss melotech metallers, which is due to be released in mid-December:

Really Good Time ‘Shit One’

The first release from the Dublin post-punk groovers since stripping down to a power trio format earlier this year, which definitely gives us more of the band’s name than the song’s title:

Save Us ‘Zero’ (Solid State/Yooth & Nail Records)

The trans-Atlantic alt-metal trio – their membership is split between California and England – are determined to make fans of Bad Omens, Dayseeker and recently featured The Plot In You sit up and take notice… those on our team are definitely paying attention…

Stone Nomad ‘The Devil Lives In TX’ (Ripple Music)

The Texan stoner trio have already explained how they hate society and traversed desolate lands on their journey to the heart of the ‘Empires Of Stone’ with the release of their new album this coming week, and now are determined to prove how the man with the best horns in the business lives in the heart of their home state:

Timeless Rage ‘Moonbite Serenade’ (Metalapolis Records)

The German symphonic metallers open the first chapter of a dark trilogy about the forbidden love between Lucifer, disguised as a vampire, and a mortal, Helena, with further instalments to be published in the new year:

Urstaat ‘Primal’ (SODEH Records)

The existential, instrumental Greek post-metal/sludge quartet have taken us on a trip deep into the heart of ‘Autophagia’, their latest album released just this past week, and from which this is the opening declaration:

Vulgarithm ‘Another Lie’ (Self-Released)

The Cambridge-based one-man project delivers another slice of what he describes as “riff-rave” to bring this week’s playlist to a suitably ‘banging finale:

So, there you have it, our latest dynamic and eclectic selection, ranging from extreme death metal to poptastic power punk and touching almost every base in between. Hopefully we’ve opened your ears to some new sounds, and pointed you in the direction of some fine tuneage to kick your new rock ‘n’ roll week off in style… Until next time, remember: keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ in the free world \m/
