Curated by Monk
Holy feck, it’s feckin’ warm out there… and even the Club’s state-of-the-art aircon is struggling with the conditions… of course, it’s cause isn’t helped by the fact that we’re blasting the hottest tunes to have landed in our inbox, and subsequently on our ever-spinning deathdecks, over the past seven days. All of which leaves us no choice but to invite you to settle back in your favourite leather-studded deckchair, crack open a few conveniently placed cold ones and crank up the volume so loud it will be heard on the other side of that big yellow orb currently gracing us with its rare presence…
Dead Reynolds ‘Someone Else’ (Self-Released)
We kick off this week’s selection with these regular visitors to our playlists and the sixth single to be released as a taster for their recently released new album, which saw them issue a ‘Yellow Weather Warning’ for some serious alt-rock-meets-pop punk action when it came out in April:
Death Warmed Up ‘Death Warmed Up’ (Self-Released)
These young Nottingham sleaze-infused NWoBHM revivalists are understandably singing their own praises with this titular release:
Evil Creek ‘Into The Thunder’ (SODEH Records)
The Pennsylvanian alt-rockers ride into the storm with this powerful, acoustic/banjo-led standalone offering:
Kyoshi Station ‘Hiding From The Sun’ (Self-Released)
These progressive indie post-rockers, who draw on Pink Floyd as much as they do Super Furry Animals and ’80s electro-pop, aren’t hiding their light under a bushel with this latest release:
Lost Velvet ‘Right Back’ (Self-Released)
This shoegazing Reading industrial-edged post-rock duo draw as much from Nine Inch Nails as they do Massive Attack and Radiohead on this lead offering from their upcoming debut album, which is due for release at the beginning of September:
Moxies ‘Bonfire’ (Self-Released)
These Nineties-grunge infected garage punks explode from the back alleys of Edinburgh with their latest, re-released incendiary standalone offering:
Riiver Brukes ‘Rebel Soul’ (SODEH Records)
The Canadian-Scottish songstress returns with her latest standalone release, which sees her “breaking free from societal chains, embracing that untamed spirit, and dancing to the rhythm of a rebellious heart”:
TELL ‘Hate Yourself In The Morning’ (Self-Released)
The Boston alt-rockers deliver what they themselves describe as the “feel bad hit of the summer”:
The Meffs ‘Where Did All Go Wrong?’ (FLG)
The Essex alt-punk duo will be getting down to ‘Business‘ with the September release of their third album, of which this latest sample proves that everything might actually be going in the opposite direction for them…
The Tirith ‘Dancing With Vampires’ (Self-Released)
The veteran proggies unveil the latest chapter in the story of their stop-start career with this lead track from their upcoming new album, which also sees them unveiling their latest line-up:
Trashbag ‘My White Van’ (Self-Released)
The visceral, volatile debut offering from this noisy Dublin post-punk duo:
Winona Fighter ‘Bombs Away’ (Rise Records)
The first new music from the Nashville punk trio since they presented their apologies to the chef with last year’s debut album, and it comes with a video filmed at the festival where they performed the song for the first time:
Wretched Things ‘Patience’ (SODEH Records)
We round off with this Texan nu-metalcore quartet and their take on a subject in which they are well versed, as three of the members are serving ÜS military veterans, which adds an extra poignancy to this appeal on long-distance relationships:
So, there you have it, our latest selections to both round off one rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ week and kick off a new one in… well, rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ style. We’ll be back same time, same place next week, with another selection of the finest tunes which will have been embracing our eardrums in the intervening period. And don’t forget to check out our daily picks as well…
And we’ll also have a very special edition of the Club this coming Wednesday, when we will mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle Of The Somme with a playlist dedicated to the memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day in 1916…
In the meantime, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Röckin’ in the free world \m/
