The Uber Rock Approved stampSo, here we are, poundin’ ‘n’ pummellin’, stompin’ ‘n’ strollin’ our way into what is already proving to be another busy rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ year here in the Überverse… We’ve the death decks fully refurbished and the amps set so loud that the neighbours are gonna enjoy some of the finest sounds around (whether they want to or not!) – just as you, our loyal readers… so, grab a beer or three and settle into your favourite armchair and enjoy our first selection of the hottest aural delights to have come our way over the past seven days:

Angel Du$t ‘I’m The Outside’ (Run For Cover Records)

The hardcore exponents have assembled a virtual of genre all-stars, from Terror’s Scott Vogel to Frank Carter, on their upcoming second album, due for release on 13 February:

Bastion Rose ‘Dust’ (Epictronic)

These cinematic hard rockers certainly believe in keeping the momentum going as, just two months after the release of their debut album, #2 already is on the way, with this exploration of the beauty of transience being the first sample:

Jay Buchanan ‘True Black’ (Sacred Tongue/Second Sun)

The Rival Sons frontman serves us up a slice of “gospel-infused American gothic” in the form of the second single from his upcoming debut solo album, which will see him delivering his ‘Weapons Of Beauty’ on 6 February:

Lily Löwe ‘Love Like This’ (Self-Released)

This soaring power ballad is the final track on, and taster from, the upcoming second album by this Norwegian melodic metal project, which features members of Jorn, Tonic Breed, ÜR faves Suicide Bombers and Invasion:

Lucie Sue ‘I Will Shit Where You Sleep’ (Self-Released)

The French alt-rock songstress has delivered us possibly the best song title of the year so far, which comes from last year’s ‘Battlestation’ album and serves as a preface for her upcoming run of dates around the Über Kingdom:

Matador ‘The House Always Wins’ (Church Road Records)

This is a big step forward for this western Canadian post-rock/metal trio, as the lead offering from their upcoming third album is the first (and so far only) track to feature vocals:

Mother Misery ‘Fake Into Real’ (Self-Released)

A standalone offering from the Swedish electro/industrial-infused melodic metallers which addresses the increasing prevalent issue of AI-generated fake news (something you’ll never get on your favourite all-human created kick-ass r’n’f’n’r website):

Obey The Sun ‘Hellhounds’ (Eclipse Records)

These Hungarian grungers are preparing to unleash (sic) their new EP, which will see them summoning them to join their ‘Desert Ritual’ at the beginning of April:

Once Mortals ‘The Cross And The Thorns’ (Self-Released)

Despite its overtly Christian title, this latest standalone offering from the Dutch groove metallers addresses a much more pagan issue, looking at how Mother is fighting back against humanity for its ignorance, wars and environmental destruction:

Temple Balls ‘Tokyo Love’ (Frontiers Music)

The Finnish hard rockers present another sample of their upcoming self-titled fifth album, due for release this time next month:

Temptress ‘Edge’ (Blues Funeral Recordings)

The Texan hybrid psychedelia/doom/blues power trio give us another sample of their upcoming second album, which they implore us to ‘hear’ when it is released in just under a fortnight’s time:

Trucker Diablo ‘Midknife Crisis’ (Self-Released)

The #BigTruck revs back into top gear as it roars into another year of hard rockin’ action, kicked off by this standalone single and an upcoming headline appearance at the Rockmantic weekender in Carlisle:

Uncultivates ‘Everyday I Wake Up On The Bonnet Of A Different Car’ (HORSEBOX Records)

We’re travelling way down to the deep south (of Ireland, that is) to unearth another terrific song title, taken from an upcoming with an equally whacky handle, as this mathy post-hardcore outlaw gang promise us that ‘This Will Become Clear Later, Like The French Revolution’ when they release their debut offering in a few weeks’ time…

So, there you have it, our first baker’s dozen of selections to kick off a new rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ year in… well, rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ style. We’ll be back same time, same place next week with another selection of the finest tunes which will have been embracing our eardrums in the intervening period. And don’t forget to check out our daily picks as well… In the meantime, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ in the free world \m/
