The Uber Rock Approved stampSo, here we are, batterin’ and breezin’, poundin’ ‘n’ pummellin’, stompin’ ‘n’ strollin’ our way into another busy rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ month here in the Überverse… We’ve the death decks fully cranked up, and the amps set so loud that the neighbours are gonna enjoy some of the finest sounds around (whether they want to not!) – just as are you, our loyal readers… so, grab a chilled beer or three and settle into your favourite armchair and enjoy our latest selection of the hottest aural delights to have come our way over the past seven days:

30 Denari ‘Traitor’ (SODEH Records)

This brooding standalone release from this Italian post-punk outfit draws on the likes of Joy Division, Bauhaus and Killing Joke as confronts trust broken beyond repair and examines the anatomy of betrayal, personal emotional and societal:

Avon ‘Super Furry Antidote’ (Go Down Records)

This desert rock collaboration, featuring former Airbus frontman James Childs, Kyuss/QOTSA/Yawning Man drimmer Alfredo Hernández and bassist Charles Pasarell, have dug deep into their archive for this latest taster of their upcoming third album, as it’s origins can be traced back to a 2003 featuring Portishead’s James Barrow…

Chasing Dolls ‘She’s Gone Out (Pass Me A Lighter)’ (Self-Released)

This Bristol-based five-piece add a gritty British twist to the classic midwest emo sound on this latest standalone offering:

Cyhra ‘Bleed With Pride’ (Reigning Phoenix Music)

The Swedish metal “supergroup” – built around Amaranthe co-founder Jake E and currenly featuring members of The Halo Effect, Kamelot, The Crown and Suburban Tribe – will share their ‘Requiem For A Pipe Dream‘ at the beginning of June, with this being the last foretaste:

DA ‘Forever Enslaved’ (Self-Released)

The latest taster from the upcoming self-titled debut album, due at the end of this week, by these London classic metal revivalists, who take their name from the fact that they were founded by former Desolation Angels guitarist Robin Brancher:

Delbhoy Kennedy ‘Sky’s The Limit’ (Flip Flop Records)

Now based in Manchester, this Edinburgh-born composer/DJ/producer has some fairly heavyweight support behind him, not least in the form of Nick Brine, who had helmed the likes of Oasis, The Stone Roses and Teenage Fanclub in the past:

EverFelt ‘Stranger’ (SODEH Records)

This darkly meditative offering, the first we have heard from this Illinois-based psychedelic stoner/groove combo, is based on a poem written back in 2013:

Godthrymm ‘Truth In My Own’ (Profound Lore Records)

The ÜK doomsters, who are built around former My Dying Bride/Vallenfyre/Solstice guitarist/vocalist Hamish Glencross and also feature former MDB bandmate Shaun Taylor Steels (drims) will complete their epic ‘Visions’ trilogy with the release of its final instalment, for which this is the opening scenesetter, at the end of May:

Goth Cage Fight ‘Girlfriend’s Girlfriend’ (Self-Released)

The fifth standalone single in just over a year from the solo project by Mark Holloway of Belfast’s heavyweight fuzz champions, Fagash McCann sees him channelling his inner stoner soul and his love of Josh Homme…

Grain Of Pain ‘Ruins Of The Heart’ (Noble Demon)

Appropriately for the Easter weekend, the Finnish doomsters address the issue of religion and the desire of the few to lead the many by turning them into sheeples following a blind doctrine, on this release which coincides with that of the accompanying album:

HARSH ‘Back To Life’ (Fireflash Records)

The French NWoCR revivalists will be delivering us the ‘Feels’ when they release their new album, of which this is the first taster, at the beginning of July:

Occult Hand Order ‘Mollerussa’ (Totem Cat Records)

The French heavy psych doomsters serve up the atmospheric second track from their upcoming new album, which will see them erecting what are hopefully not ‘Meaningless Monuments‘ when it is released in less than a fortnight’s time:

Sotabosc ‘Freyja’ (Dunk! Records)

The Barcelona-based atmospheric black metal outfit fuse mythological symbolism with historical memory on the second sample from their forthcoming debut full-length ‘El Batec dels Maquis’, which will be released later this month:

Sugarcane Hangover ‘Last Night’ (SODEH Records)

These Norwegian sleaze punks evoke a feeling with which we can all identify on this latest slow-burning standalone offering:

The Eternal ‘Everlasting MMXXVI’ (Reigning Phoenix Music)

The Australian-Finnish progressive gothic metallers reflect on impermanence, change, and the inevitable passing of time on the closing track of their recent EP, which took us to ‘Celestial’ levels when it was released earlier this year:

The Ineffectuals ‘Parasites’ (SODEH Records)

These Oregon grunge/post-punk inflected melodic alt-rock duo – who have never apparently met in person – take us into the final couple of selections with this latest standalone offering, which draws from deep from the well of the likes of Screaming Trees:

Veins ‘Sunlight’ (Self-Released)

The Midlands alt/post-rockers play us out in style with this first taster of their upcoming debut album, which will see them taking us to the horizon of ‘A New Forever’ when it is released at the beginning of June:

So, there you have it, our latest selections to kick off a new rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ week (and month) in… well, rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ style. We’ll be back same time, same place next week with another selection of the finest tunes which will have been embracing our eardrums in the intervening period. And don’t forget to check out our daily picks as well… In the meantime, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Röckin’ in the free world \m/
