Today’s selection is something of a bittersweet choice, as it is the first taste of what will be the last EP by these Belfast indie shoegazers, who have decided to call it quits after half a decade of helping to reshape and reinvigorate the local scene:
Speaking about the band’s decision to call it a day, founder, guitarist and main songwriter Michael Smyth told me:
[You] can’t stay a Virgin forever… not even Mary could!
After being a band in various forms for five years it’s time to bring it to an end. Obviously there’s a lot of emotion tied up in this decision so not an easy one to make.
On behalf of myself and the band we just want to say thanks to everyone for an amazing five years. We played so many great shows with so many great bands, met a ton of great people and got to do some amazing things.
We’re excited to get the new material out and play for you all one last time.
