Hailing from the Faroe Islands – probably the only European archipelago more remote than England’s chances of winning the World Cup in our lifetimes – these self-styled “queer vegan shitpunks” have revived the classic AA side formula for their latest offering, which comes on the back of their recent support dates with Iggy Pop and upcoming, appropriately titled, ‘Greatest Shits’ album:

New single A side ‘Pointless Vandalist’ is described by frontman Joe as a slow and simple, slide-guitar rocking anthem for all the people who think they’re James Dean in ‘Rebel Without a Cause’, without considering that this is also what Kid Rock thinks of himself.

“Destructive behaviour with a disregard for consequences is the cause of most of the issues in the history of mankind, and you are a self-centered piece of shit if you do it. There are more constructive ways to be edgy, sweetheart. Don’t leave the world a net negative when you leave.”

Flip AA side ‘Out For A Hunt’, meanwhile, is a short and sweet story about a guy that we’ve all seen.

He’s probably been in your life, or is still there. It’s the guy who’s trying to pick up gals, but none of the tricks that he read in the pick-up artist book—that he bought online—work, and this is most definitely because they are mean because he did everything the book said and none of the girls would even try sucking him off. By the time you’re done reading this, the song is already finished.

  • Greatest Shits‘ will be released on 29 August via Alcopop! Records.
  • Joe & The Shitboys support Heavy Lungs in October and then play headline shows in late November/early December.
