Curated by Monk

It’s hard to believe that we’re more than halfway through another heady, hectic month of rawk ‘n’ roll action here at ÜRHQ and across the Überverse as a whole, yet here we are… So, without further ado, let’s dive straight in and get those deathdecks spinning with the hottest hits to have been tickling our aural fancy over the past week…

Bambie Thug ‘REDRUM’ (Spinefarm Records)

The Cork-born alt-rock disruptor continues to both bend and push gender and genre boundaries with their first new music in little more than a year, one which in turn has been dominated by heavy touring, including stints supporting the likes of BabyMetal and Poppy:

CF98 ‘Hate My Life’ (SBÄM Records)

The Polish skatepunk trio are getting all nostalgic, capturing that bittersweet mix of youthful longing, anxiety and self-discovery on this first sample from their new album, due in the Autumn:

Circle 60 ‘Along The Way’ (Octophonic Records)

The second kosmos-disturbing slice of their self-styled “psychodelic future-drenched sci-fi laden punk-rock ‘n’ roll” to be taken from upcoming new album ‘Gods Of Dimension’, due to bother the Überverse with its 432-tuned vibrations at the end of October:

Dial Drive ‘On My Own’ (SBÄM Records)

This Florida punk quartet most definitely are not on their own when it comes to this latest choice cut from their upcoming, self-titled third album, due towards the end of the year:

Drain ‘Who’s Having Fun?’ (Epitaph Records)

To answer the Santa Cruz hardcore trio’s question… WE ARE! Apparently this is the only song on upcoming album ‘… Is Your Friend’ on which vocalist Sammy Ciarmitaro actually sings… I suppose that’s opposed to what he usually does?!

Foreign Film ‘Santa Carla’ (Self-Released)

It shouldn’t be any surprise that this project takes its name from a song on Will Haven’s debut album, as it is the brainchild of guitarist/primary songwriter Jeff Irwin, who has recruited bandmates Mitch Wheeler (drums), Sean Bivins (guitar) and Adrien Contreras (bass) to bring this new post-rock concept to life:

Haggus ‘What’s Fucking Left?’ (Tankcrimes)

Melding traditional crust punk with goregrind into the insanely formula that is known as “mincecore”, the balaclava-wearing Californians (who definitely could teach Kneecap a thing or three about fashion sense) take no prisoners with the latest cut extracted from their recent ‘Destination Extinction’ album:

Mouth Culture ‘Regret 101’ (In Vogue Records)

We definitely have no regrets in including this latest attitude-filled slice of pop punk from the Leicester trio, released ahead of their appearances at next weekend’s Reading and Leeds festivals, which will be followed by a short headlining run in October:

PTRNS ‘Mary Jane’ (Self-Released)

The third standalone single from the rising Belfast alt-rock starlets, the demo version of which originally featured a sample from ‘Spiderman 2’, which ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor (sic):

Quaint ‘Unspoken’ (Self-Released)

This is not exactly a new song, as these Glaswegian alt-rockers are re-released tracks from their back catalogue as they prepare to release new material in the hopefully not too distant future:

Ruination ‘Outspoken’ (Golden Robot Records)

These Aussie metallers certainly aren’t mincing their words on this, the second single to be lifted from their upcoming new album, which will see them revealing #EverythingEventually in October:

Sour Tongue ‘I Thought You Liked Me!’ (Metropolis Records)

There’s no thought required, as we definitely do like this LA riot grrl-inspired quintet, who have just released their new EP:

Sun Merchant ‘Hold My Sober’ (Self-Released)

This is the debut release from the Irish hard psych-infused alt-rock trio, a new project from Stephen McGrath of blues rockers Crow Black Chicken:

The Boy Detective ‘Beth Truss’ (Punkerton Records)

The Detroit ska-punk collective set the tone for their upcoming second album, which will see them serving up a ‘Disco Lunch’ in November:

Tiberius ‘Felt’ (Audio Antihero)

Not to be confused with the Scottish proggies of the same name, this self-styled “farm emo” quartet are delivering all the feels with this second sampler of their upcoming label debut in November:

Waterlines ‘Sinister’ (Self-Released)

The electro-metalcore mob unveiled this new tune at last weekend’s Bloodstock festival and now give it the full release treatment ahead of another run of live dates:

When They Riot ‘Smile’ (Self-Released)

Our final choice is fittingly also the final single to be released from the debut EP by these Leeds grunge-inflected alt-rocking boogie boys:

So, there you have it, our latest dynamic and eclectic selection. Hopefully we’ve opened your ears to some new sounds, and pointed you in the direction of some fine tuneage to kick your new rock ‘n’ roll week off in style… Until next time, remember: keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on Über Rockin’ in the free world \m/
