Japanese genre benders Crossfaith are currently in the UK at the end of a run of dates opening for Enter Shikari, before appearing at this weekend series of Slam Dunk festivals.

I caught up with vocalist Kento Koie just moments before the band took to the stage in Belfast to welcome them on their first time visiting my home city.  We chatted about the diffiiculty of bands breaking out of remote territories, the challenge of playing new ones and how Baby Metal might just have transformed the Japanese rock scene… Oh, and I got the low down on the band’s new E.P and album and the massive new direction which the band might be taking:

Apologies for the sound quality in the second half of the interview:  a band called Brand New Friend, who were playing in the pub next door later in the evening, seemingly could not understand the meaning of a sign saying ‘Interview In Progress’ and decided that their voices were more important than that of a band with much more talent than they can ever hope to nurture.  The Dark Queen also had suffered an asthma attack shortly before the interview, so apologies on her behalf for the slightly shaky camera work.
