Jaret Reddick, best known as the frontman of US pop-punk pranksters Bowling For Soup, has just rounded off a short run of dates on Shit Island, telling the stories behind the songs, and performing them in stripped-down interpretations of same, on what he branded the ‘Heartache & Hilarity’ tour.

I had the pleasure of catching up with one of my teenage heroes, and the man who provided the soundtrack to much of that period of my life, just before he took to the stage of Manchester’s Gorilla Club, to talk about, among many other things crowd-funding, divorce, finding love with his best friend and how Frank Turner is the poet for our generation… Intrigued?  Well, here’s the conversation in full, with no edits:
