By now you would have thought the legendary Ruts DC would have done everything there is to do, but one thing they haven’t done before is a 10” EP – until now. ‘Bound In Blood’ is a brand new four-track EP on CD and green and black smoke 10” vinyl.
As they move towards the Ruts 50th anniversary tour in 2027, the solid trio of Segs, Ruffy and Heggarty are joined on this release by ‘Rhythm Collision’ collaborator Mitt Gamon on harmonica and Boz Boorer on extra guitars to make this a very special one-off release.
Title track ‘Bound In Blood’ first appeared in acoustic form on 2024’s ‘ElectrAcoustiC Volume 3’ album, and resurfaces here re-recorded in its full electric glory. It’s not an up-tempo banger, but a powerful, soaring, dramatic piece utilising acoustic and electric guitars and a quality tune for sure.
A new mix of the ‘Counterculture?’ track ‘Born Innocent’ is a dub reggae belter featuring and dedicated to late harmonica legend Mitt Gamon.
Brand new track ‘Wear The Crown’ packs a punch and is a quality up-tempo tune in finest Ruts DC tradition, accompanied by another belting dub mix entitled ‘Dub The Crown’.
Half quality guitar tunes and half equally quality dub tunes, ‘Bound In Blood’ is classic Ruts DC.
- ‘Bound In Blood’ will be released tomorrow (Friday 11 September).
