Tomas ‘Tompa’ Lindberg, founder of Swedish melodic death metallers At The Gates, and widely regarded as one of the genre’s greatest innovators and vocalists, has died at the age of 52 following a battle with cancer.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the other members of At The Gates said:
You were an inspiration to us all. A true friend, both compassionate and sympathetic. You will always be remembered for your generosity and your creative spirit. You will be eternally missed. Forever in our hearts.
