Scott Sorry, perhaps best known to ÜR readers as bassist with The Wildhearts in the late Noughties, has passed away after a seven year battle with brain cancer. He died on his 47th birthday.
Having been touring bassist in Philadelphia punk icons Amen, Sorry first hooked up with Ginger Wildheart when he replaced Nikki Sixx in the supergroup, Brides Of Destruction. Although Ginger left the band before the release of 2005’s ‘Runaway Brides’ album, the pair reunited the following year when Sorry joined The Wildhearts, appearing on 2007’s self-titled “comeback” album and 2009’s ‘¡Chutzpah!’, as well as the ‘Stop Us If You’ve Heard This One Before Vol 1’ covers project and the ‘¡Chutzpah! Jnr’ EP.
In 2009, he branched out on his own, forming Sorry And The Sinatras, with whom he released two albums, as well as what turned out to be his only solo album, 2016’s ‘When We Were Kings’.
He was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2018. Despite his illness, he released a single, ‘Black Dog Dancers’, in October 2021 and toured the ÜK the following year. He passed away on Thursday (30 October), with his wife and children at his bedside.
