Rob Reiner – perhaps most familiar to rock fans as the director of the Spinal Tap movies – has died at the age of 78. He was found at his Los Angeles home, along with his wife, Michelle. Police are treating the deaths as “apparent homicide”.
Reiner made his film directing debut with the 1984 mockumentary ‘This Is Spinal Tap’. His final film was last year’s sequel, ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’.
In between, Reiner directed acclaimed movies such as ‘Stand By Me’, ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘When Harry Met Sally’, ‘Misery’ and ‘A Few Good Men’.
He also co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment, the production company responsible for movies such as ‘The Shawshank Redemption’.
