Mouth Culture 2024 tour posterThere has been a lot of buzz surrounding Mouth Culture the past few months. Whether that be the release of their exceptional new EP ‘Mishaps Of My Mid Twenties’ and BBC Radio One promotion, the sudden rise on Tik-Tok, or their recent support slots opening for The Blackout at Manchester Academy and following Teenage Wrist across the country, the alternative three piece returned to 160-cap Gullivers in what could easily be the sweatiest gig the venue has seen in recent time.

The explosive set consisted of 11 songs, a mix of fan favorites since their conception in 2019 and recent tracks from their album.

Lead vocalist Jack Voss has the crowd under his spell as soon as they take to the stage to perform opening track ‘Sharkbait’, a clever commentary of the current state of the music industry, brimming with energy and subsequently leading the crowd to moshpits and chaos in just under three minutes. This precedent was set for the rest of the night, and indeed their audience reciprocated that energy back, not stopping even once throughout, as the band perform exceptionally well.

‘Sunny Smile’ turned into a karaoke session during the catchy chorus, ‘Again’ nodded to the old school era of alternative music, while ‘Don’t Pull Up’ and their rendition of debut single ’15 Missed Calls’ stand as a testament to their innovative musicianship and excellent performance.

It seems as while this tour is intimate in regards to its capacity, it won’t take long for Mouth Culture to reach new height. That is proven after all through their recent festival announcements at 2000 Trees and Burn It Down.

While on stage they emit the energy of a well established band performing in front of thousands, and if they can make a room of 160 people radiate that feeling, one can only imagine what the future holds for them.
