It’s Day 10 of Uber Rock’s 13 Days of Halloween and today we delve deep, too deep, into the putrid psyche of Jonny Town, frontman of uber-approved retro rock squad Goat Leaf. His band pushes every one of our collective buttons, but his dark thoughts and Blue Sunshine-addled memories of the macabre are too terrifying even for us…..

1.) What are your most vivid childhood memories of Halloween?

Watching Abbott & Costello vs The Mummy at my dad’s house and seeing the look in Dave’s eye as he filled up glasses of water to pour on trick or treaters from his bathroom window.

2.) Why do you think that the worlds of horror and metal/punk have always been so closely linked?

Black Sabbath, Screaming Lord Sutch, Alice Cooper. Nuff Said.

3.) Has there been a horror remake yet that has bettered the original movie?

Nope. Modern Horror rarely shocks. CGI blood is the worst effect of all. Tom Savini and his prosthetics in the ’80s is the gore I crave.

4.) What’s the greatest ever horror movie kill?

So many to mention! The plate glass kill/decapitation scene in The Omen is pretty cool. Or the punctured eyeball in Zombie Flesh Eaters.

5.) Who is the baddest ever horror movie villain…and why?

Michael Myers. So evil he can wear a William Shatner mask inside out and still be fucking shit up.

6.) Who is the greatest ever Scream Queen?

Jamie Lee Curtis.

7.) Name your Top 5 favourite horror movies of all time…and tell us why!!

1.) Night of The Living Dead (original) – The build up to the main onslaught is claustrophobic and paranoid, it’s snails pace for 40 minutes and then… POW! Zombies. Right in the kisser.

2.) The Wicker Man – Summerisle Pagans for the win.

3.) The Evil Dead – Bruce Campbell is the Charlie Chaplin of horror. Genius set pieces and it still creeps me out to this day.

4.) The Shining – Because it’s nuts. So many visual messages and clues. It’s a great piece of art and just nails the isolation vibe.

5.) Halloween – Low budget, groundbreaking and frightened the crap out of me when I was a kid.

8.) What underrated horror movie would you recommend to our readers just in case they have never seen it?

C.H.U.D. –  A favourite of mine from when I was a sprog.

9.) What is your guilty pleasure, the trashy horror flick that you hold dear but everyone else runs away from?

Anything with Vincent Price in it. Especially the Dr Phibes films.

10.) What is the greatest ever horror movie poster?

Alien. “In Space, No-one Can Hear You Scream”

11.) Have you ever had a ghostly supernatural experience?

The apparition of a woman gave me a blow job while I was asleep in a converted Fire Station… No, hang on. That’s a scene from Ghostbusters…

12.) What ‘star’ of the music world would you like to see slaughtered in gory horror movie style?

I wish ill of no one. Though Cliff Richard could wear his guts on the outside and I wouldn’t express any real regret.

13.) What are your plans for Halloween this year?

I will be watching a marathon of movies from dawn till midnight I expect. You never know who may be lurking out there in the void…
