Day 3 of Uber Rock’s 13 Days of Halloween and we find ourselves in Canada, on the trail of a C.C. Diemond, guitarist with uber-approved ass-kickers Diemonds. If you’ve ever seen the band’s video for ‘Get The Fuck Outta Here’ (see it below!) then you’ll know just why this band and this six-string slayer qualifies for our horrific holiday hoedown…..
1.) What are your most vivid childhood memories of Halloween?
Dressing up like Freddy Krueger in grade 2 and chasing girls with my claw hand.
2.) Why do you think that the worlds of horror and metal/punk have always been so closely linked?
They both draw from evil imagery to create excitement. From the very first Black Sabbath record they were forever connected.
3.) Has there been a horror remake yet that has bettered the original movie?
Nope!
4.) What’s the greatest ever horror movie kill?
I have so many but I would have to say Friday the 13th Part 3 when the dude is walking on his hands and Jason chops him in half upside down.
5.) Who is the baddest ever horror movie villain…and why?
Freddy Krueger, he’s a child molester….
6.) Who is the greatest ever Scream Queen?
Linnea Quigley.
7.) Name your Top 5 favourite horror movies of all time…and tell us why!!
1.) Friday The 13th Part 3 – The Bad Guy punk gang, the first appearance of the hockey mask and it’s IN 3D!
2.) April Fool’s Day – Just an all around creepy fun thriller with lots of good kills and a great twist at the end.
3.) The Return of the Living Dead – So many classic 1 liners and awesome costumes. Zombie – “Send More Cops” – genius!
4.) A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors – I think at this point they had really honed Freddy as a character and what he was capable of. The cast is amazing, featuring a young Patricia Arquette, and Heather Langenkamp makes a return appearance. Also Dokken – ‘Dream Warriors’, one of my favourite songs!
5.) Pet Sematary 2 – Starring one of my faves, Edward Furlong. I used to rent 7 VHS for 7$ for 7 nights at my local video store when I was a kid. I rented a whole bunch but when it was time to take them back I begged my mom to let me keep that one so I could watch it again. Not a traditional slasher film but a great horror flick none the less.
8.) What underrated horror movie would you recommend to our readers just in case they have never seen it?
I would say Brainscan from 1994. Another Edward Furlong classic. A teenager is part of an interactive video game where he kills innocent victims. Later, the murders become real…. Might ring true in today’s world with all the people playing the new GTA V.
9.) What is your guilty pleasure, the trashy horror flick that you hold dear but everyone else runs away from?
I guess if we are talking a movie that horror snobs might turn their nose up at, I would have to say Idle Hands (1999). This movie is just fun and awesome. With a scantily clad Jessica Alba in her prime.
10.) What is the greatest ever horror movie poster?
I love the cover of Maniac (1980), just brutal. No question at all what that movies about when you look at the poster.
11.) Have you ever had a ghostly supernatural experience?
Nope, I embrace the spirit world so I think they just respect me and leave me alone.
12.) What ‘star’ of the music world would you like to see slaughtered in gory horror movie style?
Ozzy.
13.) What are your plans for Halloween this year?
We are playing a show, most likely in some ridiculous costumes we threw together at the dollar store that day. Then doing a little trick or treating in the audience.
