While Rebellion is primarily known for hosting a multitude of shows surrounding metal and its subgenres, this recent sold out gig consisted of alternative rockers Dead Poet Society and their support act Ready The Prince.

To have a sold out show on a weekday is quite the feat, but considering Dead Poet Society’s status in the current alternative scene, and following the release of their latest album ‘FISSION’, the crowd came prepared with a weekend type of energy, and the moshpits that followed proved that.

When seeing Ready The Prince on stage, the first two bands that come to mind are Bloc Party and Rage Against The Machine. While this might sound like a weird combination upon reading it, the Canada based alternative band seamlessly transition the two, with funky grooves and melodies that incorporate jump-up heaviness and energy throughout. They are most definitely ones to look out for, and their headline tour later on this year is one to attend.

Dead Poet Society bring a completely new, refined, and chaotic attitude to the table straight off the bat. Opening with Hard to Be God, the audience already splits in half and with bodies crashing into each other and the band crowdsurfing for the breakdown, it’s easy to assume how the rest of the set will fare.

Performing a medley of fan favourites the likes of ‘CoDa’ and .’intoodeep’., as well as a multitude of songs from their recent album, there isn’t a second in which they aren’t performing to the utmost of their abilities. The sound is tight, and bar a technical difficulty with the bass cutting off during the pre-breakdown of ‘.SALT.’, each hurdle is overcome with professionalism and laughter.

The perfect way of describing the spirits in the venue would be picturing lead vocalist Jack Underkofler wearing a bra on his head while below him a chaotic pit unfolds. If there is one thing the band is, it’s highly entertaining and theatrical. Definitely a must watch for all gig goers and music lovers.

While there is quite a sonic difference between what the iconic venue is used to having on stage, the bands and the crowds exceptionally created an amazing evening, and one that is the right step forward within the music scene etiquette and the alternative rock scene as a whole.
