Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls/Pet Needs – Manchester, Academy – 11 October 2022

For what is perhaps a first for Jonny B during his time at Über Rock, he found himself heading down to Manchester to see an artist who recently held the number one slot in the ÜK album charts – Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls. Turner is a man who is absolutely passionate about music and touring, so it’s no real surprise that he was using this tour to showcase these up and coming artists and friends.

Uriah Heep – Manchester, Bridgewater Hall – 3 October 2022

After seeing these legends for the first time at Download Festival back in 2013, Uriah Heep stuck in Jase W’s head as a band that has no intention of ever stopping, come hell or high water. And nearly a decade later our resident gigaholic was finally seeing them again at Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall – and not just that, it was an entire evening of just Uriah Heep!

Girls In Synthesis – ‘The Rest Is Distraction’ (Own It/Cargo Records)

Sophomore releases are always a tricky thing, regardless of how long a band has been together. Do you stick to what you’ve already done? Do you shift as your collective writing improves or changes tack? Girls In Synthesis may have had a lot of good feedback about their debut, but it’s that critical time of building on that good first impression.
