Curated by Monk

The deathdecks have been warmed up, the bar is fully stocked – although we’re all out of those fancy pre-made cocktails so everything will have to be done from scratch… but, then, we wouldn’t have it any other way as we dive straight into another hit-filled playlist of the hottest tunes that have been bothering our eardrums and filling our aural memory banks over the past week…

Absinthe Green ‘Bittersweet’ (Self-Released)

The Greek alt-punk combo, fronted by the charismatic yet enigmatic Eirini, have been something of a roll, with every one of the singles prefacing their upcoming debut album, which will see them exploring themes #OfLoveAndPain when it is released later this year, having featured on our playlists, an experience which surely must be more sweet than bitter for them:

Abyssery ‘Vortex Of Oneiric Visions’ (Self-Released)

The third single from this new Irish one-man death metal project, which features a guest contribution from ex-Decapitated vocalist Rafal ‘Rasta Piotrowski, marks the release of the impactful debut album, which hopefully won’t signal an #InterminableEnd but signify the emergence of powerful new force on the island’s extreme scene:

A Lethal Black Ooze ‘Rosie’ (Self-Released)

These Waterford garage punks look back on some of the idiosyncratic moments which occurred during the Covid lockdowns of 2020 – not least frontman Andy McGurk welcoming the adopted cat who has inspired this latest sub-two-minute blast of whimsical fury:

Bastion Rose ‘Cinnamon Rose’ (Epictronic Records)

The grunge-infused groovers explore temptation in all its incendiary manifestations with this second course to be served up from their upcoming debut album:

blessthefall ‘Fell So Hard, Felt So Right’ (Rise Records)

The Arizona quartet have teamed up with Dan Marsala from Story Of The Year for this latest offering from their first album in seven years, due for release in September:

Eld Varg ‘Black Starlight’ (Self-Released)

The Scottish metallers are set to release their #Destroyer of a second album in November, but in the meantime serve up this hefty and highly fulfilling taster of what we can expect:

Heavensgate ‘Rain’ (Pure Noise Records)

The Aussie metalcore mob celebrate their new record contract with this standalone release:

House Of Hosts ‘Darkest Days’ (Self-Released)

The third track to be released as a taster for the Swansea progressive metalcore quintet’s upcoming EP, which see them deliver their #Reckoning upon the Überverse at the end of September:

Månegarm ‘Rodhins hav’ (Napalm Records)

The Swedish marauders pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to the force of the sea with the third taster of their upcoming epic new album, ‘Edsvuren‘, which is due to be released at the end of next month:

Silk Spinster ‘Silk Spinster’ (Self-Released)

Halloween comes three months early with the title track of the upcoming debut EP, due this coming weekend, by these Hull hellions, who blend NWoBHM with nu-metal with an immersive theatrical aesthetic that draws on Judas Priest as much as it does Ghost:

Slow Crush ‘Bloodmoon’ (Pure Noise Records)

The band say of this latest sample from their new album, which will see them satiate our #Thirst at the end of next month: In the absence of light only the darkness remains. In this dark void we feel lost without purpose or spark while time slips through our fingers like sand. ‘Bloodmoon’ is about the struggles and pain of a passionate and purposeful life but a life worth living. A life without is dark. In this fulfilling life we can completely lose ourselves and forget about the crunch of time.

Spirit Of Digniti ‘Born To Do’ (Self-Released)

This resurrected tune from the highly prolific Northern Ireland one man melodic metal machine David Pepper sees him reuniting with Cursed Sun frontman Andrew ‘Jones’ Cassidy to revisit a previously unreleased tune from his extensive back catalogue of 15 albums in eight years:

The Skanks ‘Take It Back’ (Self-Released)

These Finnish back-alley garage punks refuse to live up to the title of their latest single, as they once again refuse to play nice but rather start the sort of rock ‘n’ roll brawl that they know how to finish just as quickly as it began:

The Vintage Caravan ‘Philosopher’ (Napalm Records)

The Icelandic retro proggies have teamed up with Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt for this second taster from their upcoming new album, which will see them taking us through new musical ‘Portals’ when it is released in September:

Thrice ‘Gnash’ (Epitaph Records)

The lead offering from their new album, due to impact at the beginning of October:
