Earlier this month, Mongolian folk metal horde The HU achieved something their most famous ancestor, Genghis Khan, could never have imagined, by not only once again sweeping triumphantly into the heart of the UK but also into the inner sanctum of one of its most heavily guarded landmarks – the home of King Charlie himself.
During a day of sightseeing in the nation’s capital, the band were apparently recognized by a lance-corporal in the Life Guard Squadron – normally tasked with protecting Buckingham Palace from foreign invaders – who managed to talk his commander into letting the quartet (and, of course, their entourage, which just happened to include a photographer) inside for a peaceful reconnaissance and to meet some of their famous horses.
Later in the day, the four invaders performed an intimate acoustic show at the Mongolian Embassy and ambushed a London cabbie and his passengers for a photoshoot and a quick game of football before, less than 48 hours later, completing their invasion with an all-conquering performance at Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary celebration at Knebworth.
