Artwork for Future Soul by Tedeschi Trucks BandTedeschi Trucks Band , the GRAMMY Award-winning band led by wife and husband duo Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, release their sixth studio album ‘Future Soul’ this month. Breaking new ground for TTB, it’s an album they’re very excited about.

Produced by Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Carrie Underwood) and co-produced by Trucks, ‘Future Soul’ marks the follow-up to TTB’s 2022 conceptual quadruple studio album ’I Am The Moon’, and their latest live release from last year, ‘Tedeschi Trucks Band and Leon Russell Present: Mad Dogs & Englishmen Revisited (Live At Lockn’)‘.

A good example of new ground broken here is the stonking opening cut ‘Crazy Cryin’’, injecting some funk into the TTB mix with a grooving funky beat underpinning the catchy guitar hooks and soulful rock vibe. The title track follows similar lines, albeit heaver on the guitar.

There’s good diversity across the album, with the feel-good Americana of ‘I Got You’ and ‘Who Am I’ nestling alongside the equally feel-good soul/blues of ‘Under The Knife’, the dark and moody harder rock of ‘Hero’ and the soulful acoustic flavoured ballad ‘What In The World’.

Elsewhere, ‘Be Kind’ has an old school 60’s sweet soul vibe, ‘Devil Be Gone’ is a quality slinky blues shuffle, and ‘Ride On’ closes the album on a country vibe. As you would expect with TTB, the 12-piece band are firing on all cylinders with quality powerhouse vocals and scintillating guitar work throughout.

A very worthy addition to the TTB catalogue, existing fans will love this, as will all fans of soulful rock, blues, country rock and southern rock.

  • Future Soul‘ will be released on Friday (20 March).
