It’s quite useful living in such close proximity to different countries as when you have an issue such as a friend’s birthday party getting in the way of seeing a show you wanted to see, you can always pop over the border to Belgium or Germany instead. Jase W decided to do just that with a trip to the lovely city of Antwerp for The Devil Wears Prada: a nice change of scenery.

You would think with how many times he has been to Eindhoven now Jase W would have seen every major venue but clearly not as this night he was about to see Swiss post-rock outfit hubris. at Altstadt. This venue is barely a few doors up from one of his usual bar haunts here (Cafe The Jack) so he was surprised the venue name didn’t register in his head when he saw it at first. Eindhoven felt quite serene, which was a bit at odds with his usual impression of it but it was not like he was there for a “smash your mate in the pit” type show; instead, it was time for some dreamy post-rock.

The latest weather update in the Netherlands was that the Dutch were finally back in their comfort zone of wet and windy as October got things started. It didn’t matter for Jase W, though, as was over in Utrecht for a night of pure mayhem and blastbeats thanks to an insane tour package headed by Shadow Of Intent. It’s quite handy how a scheduling conflict can be easily addressed by travelling to the other end of the country, in this case it’s Unprocessed’s show in Nijmegen tonight as yesterday Jase W was at another show while they hit Tilburg. But, he’s not going to sniff at that because he still got the chance to catch this phenomenal tour with Of Virtue and Daedric in support and arguably an easier trip home afterwards… how handy!
