Irish music journalist, podcaster, promoter and all round champion of the island’s metal scene Philip Keaveney has died, following a long illness, at a hospice in his native Roscommon. He was 46 years old.
Philip was founder of the Burning Metal Irl website and podcast, which he continued to produce until last month.
Such was his commitment to the metal scene that, between 2023 and 2025 he also curated a total of eight compilation albums showcasing acts from both sides of the Irish border, which he released for free via Bandcamp.
