Basement’s album launch show to celebrate their new album ‘WIRED’ transformed the skatepark into an intimate and raw DIY experience. I’ve never been to anything like it before, and probably never will again. The venue’s unique industrial backdrop almost had me feeling like I was transported into a Tony Hawk game, with fans packing the concrete floor like NPCs and climbing skate ramps to secure the best view.

Frontman Andrew Fisher launched into the set with the titular song ‘WIRED’, immediately followed by ‘The Way I Feel’.

It only took two songs for the crowd to warm up to Fisher’s ferocious energy, with people jumping onto the stage and leaping into the crowd en masse. ‘Covet’ provoked the most chaotic crowd surfing I’ve seen in a minute, with people all but cartwheeling off the stage.

It’s the most engaged I’ve seen people be at a gig for a long time.

It was a chaotic, unforgettable night that I’m pretty sure has permanently altered my brain chemistry.
