Mick Abrahams, the original guitarist with folk rock veterans Jethro Tull, has died at the age of 82.
Abrahams formed Tull, alongside singer Ian Anderson, in 1967, co-writing and performing on the band’s debut album, ‘This Was’, released the following year, before being replaced by Martin Barre.
He went on to form the short-lived blues rock band Blodwyn Pig, who released two albums before splitting up in 1970. The band reformed in 1993, going on to release seven studio and one live album, as well as a plethora of compilations and archive recordings, over the next 20 years.
He continued to record, both as a solo artist and under the banner of the Mick Abrahams Band, until ill-health forced him to more or less retire from the music business, releasing his last album in 2015.
