This is the latest project from a man for whom I am amazed there are enough hours in the day to cater for all the various projects in which he is involved… which is maybe why this track has come out two months later than its title would suggest it should have…

Michael Smyth is something of a fairly ubiquitous figure on the Belfast scene, who seems to have been in more bands (including current stints in Singles Club regulars Broncos, as well as shoegazers Virgins) than some of us have had pints on a Saturday night. But as if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy he is one of the hardest working promoters and press agents I know, constantly bombarding our inbox with details of bright shiny new acts to attract our magpie-like attention to such things…

Silk is very much a solo venture from the prolific Smyth, who described the impetus for the project to me:

I constantly feel like I am rushing towards the inevitable infinite oblivion. Further exacerbated by the marking of years spent circling the sun. To that end, it’s important that I fill the time remaining with joyous, creative acts. The sharing of ideas is an essential part of that, which brings us to Silk…
