The Yorkshire alt-rock trio are literally breaking their hearts to tell us that ‘Love’s The Worst’ on this fourth sample to be lifted from their first album in six years, which no doubt will have us all feeling better when it is released next month:
Talking about the song, which captures the pain and anger of being cheated on in a previous relationship that had to die for his true love to flourish, frontman Matt Bigland shares:
Cards on the table. I wrote “Love’s The Worst” after getting broken up with (cool thing #1), on my birthday (cool thing #2), during lockdown (cool thing #3) and then realizing that the person who had just split up with me had actually gotten back with their ex for a week or two already whilst we were still together (cool thing #4). It’s fair to say that making that realization really sucked! Lyrically, ‘LTW’ is a pretty direct song, and I think it captures really well the frustration and hurt that comes with having your heart trodden on pretty good. But hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
