Chosen by Monk

Having featured on our main Singles Club playlists a few times over the past months, these Scottish alt-rockers now unleash their inner #Monsters with this second taster of their upcoming sophomore album, on which they will attempt to convince us that ‘It Can’t Rain All The Time’ (they’ve obviously never been to ÜR’s home city!)…

Speaking about the single, the band told me:

Inspired by the harrowing BBC documentary ‘Three Girls’, ‘Monsters’ tackles the painful subject of the Rochdale child abuse scandal. The song sheds light on how working-class girls were systematically failed by authorities who dismissed their voices, branding them as unreliable and liars. It is a damning critique of societal and institutional neglect, giving a voice to the voiceless and holding up a mirror to the failures of those in power.

Looking forward to the album as a whole, they continued:

The record explores themes of male suicide, destructive relationships, class divide, addiction, poverty, wealth, and greed. More than just a collection of songs, it serves as a powerful statement on modern-day life and how the echoes of our past shape our present.

‘It Can’t Rain All The Time’ will be self-released on 12 September.
