When I wrote for the Glitzine website I was continually subjected to a multitude of horrors……generally in the form of generic Swedish glam bands who knew their way around a hair straightener but not around a three minute, three chord future classic. Coming at me from all angles, I felt like a textbook groupie surrounded by glam rock pricks……so to speak. It would take a band a little above this norm to make me sit up and take notice in future…….

When the ‘Deadboys Making Noise’ EP from Sister arrived with a Swedish postmark I feared the worst, but one look at the promo shots that accompanied the disc sparked a little interest. They had pretty much nailed the whole ‘Shout At The Devil’ era Motley Crue meets Murderdolls look and, if the songs on the EP offered at least a slither of the qualities of those bands then they’d be in with a fighter’s chance. Thankfully they did. Sure, they were raw and untamed but there was enough on offer to keep my interest.

Fast forward to Über Röck’s 13 Days Of Halloween and I contacted the band to see if they would be interested in being featured. Guitarist Lestat, who replaced former member Dani around a year ago, agreed to answer the questions……….

What are your most vivid childhood memories of Halloween?

First time I watched The Exorcist……I was 6.lestat

Why do you think that the worlds of horror and metal/punk have always been so closely linked?

Don’t know… Maybe the source of inspiration is the same. Both have the same intentions; to shock, provoke and disgust people.

What are your thoughts on the state of horror movies at the present time? With all the remakes and rehashes there doesn’t seem to be much original thought going on at present…..

Well, much of it sucks. They’re all the same: Some college kids getting slaughtered by someone or something and one lucky son of a bitch gets away. And remakes… they shouldn’t bother… But actually there are new horror movies that I like. The Saw movies for instance… They’re not that bad.

Has there been a horror remake yet that has bettered the original movie?

No. I almost cried when I saw the remake of Friday The 13th.

John Carpenter’s Halloween or Rob Zombie’s Halloween?

Easy one.. Carpenter’s, a classic.

Fast zombies or slow zombies?

Slow. Fast zombies are just stupid.

What’s the greatest ever horror movie kill?

Hard to think of one…..but the video game kill in A Nightmare On Elm Street
Part 6 is awesome.

Who is the baddest ever horror movie villain…and why?

The most badass must be Freddy Krueger or Chucky, the worst is the “monster” in the movie The Cavern I think.

Who is the greatest ever Scream Queen?

I’ll have to say Jamie Lee Curtis. Or maybe Jenny Agutter.

Name your Top 5 favourite horror movies of all time…and tell us why!!

I like the classic slasher movies like Elm Street, Friday The 13th. But if I have to pick the five best :

A Nightmare On Elm Street – The first kill is epic!

The Shining – old one with Jack Nicholson, awesome movie with a great story and Jack is the coolest maniac ever.

The Exorcist – Regan, the best horror kid of all time.

Any one of the Child’s Play movies – I worship Chucky.

Braindead (or Dead Alive as it’s also called) – great splatter.

What underrated horror movie would you recommend to our readers just in case they have never seen it?

Killer Klowns From Outer Space or Zombie Strippers maybe.

What ‘star’ of the music world would you like to see slaughtered in gory horror movie style?

hmm…..Tom Jones? Hit him with a frying pan. That’d wipe the smile off his face..

What are your plans for Halloween this year?

I don’t really know yet.. The coolest would be to celebrate Halloween touring the UK with SISTER.
