Uber Rock’s Albums of the Year 2012

This article shouldn’t really need an introduction: the last Uber Rock feature of the year, published on the last day of the year, celebrating the best albums of the year.
We could have published it in the Summer, given the plaudits to whichever big American band happened to be playing in the UK at the time, but, of course, that would be pathetic. A pathetic, money-based sell out.
No, Uber Rock prides itself on being dedicated to music – simple as that. No back handers, no arse licking, no ulterior motives.
That is why the collective Top 20 albums of 2012 that you will find at the bottom of this feature excites us so: we’ve always strived to give the little guys, the criminally underheard, the underdog as much coverage as the big guys, the established acts. More so, if we’re totally honest. The final Top 20 albums list pretty much sums up Uber Rock’s spirit – cool albums by bigger bands rubbing shoulders with essential albums by smaller bands that you might not have even heard about if it wasn’t for mofos like us who put the music before anything else.
