H13: Dazmondo – JD & the FDCs

We got this, man! We got this by the ass! His JD & the FDC bandmates indicated that we would never get a reply if we asked Dawn of the Dead obsessive Dazmondo to partake in Uber Rock’s 13 Days Of Halloween and, man, a lot of people are running…he could run… he could run, tonight….but he didn’t let us down. Many have died, last week, on these streets. In the basement of this building, you will find them. I have given them the last rites. Now, you do what you will. You are stronger than us. But soon, I think they be stronger than you. When the dead walk, señores, we must stop the killing… or lose the war…..
1.) What are your most vivid childhood memories of Halloween?
Me and my mates going OTT with costumes and masks, building a big fire in the woods and cooking pig’s flesh mmmmmmmmm.
2.) Why do you think that the worlds of horror and metal/punk have always been so closely linked?
Rock ain’t nice – You can go way back to the ’50s and Screaming Jay Hawkins who was pairing Rock ‘n’ Roll with sinister theatrics, which inspired Screaming Lord Such in the early ’60s, who was one of the first geezers to have long hair and a painted face and jump out of coffins. I reckon they are both important in shaping the package of Rock & Horror which went on to inspire the likes of Arthur Brown, Alice Cooper, Sabbath, the Misfits, the Cramps etc…….
3.) Has there been a horror remake yet that has bettered the original movie?
I don’t know about bettered…There are a few which I think are pretty good: Halloween, The Ring, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes. Then there are some real shitters which I’d rather forget about. Then there are the cash-ins such as the Dawn remake (BLASPHEMY) which would be a decent (RUNNING!!!) zombie movie if it wasn’t called DAWN OF THE DEAD.
4.) What’s the greatest ever horror movie kill?
Copter zombie in Dawn, Rickles in Day, the poacher who gets his face hammered in in Pan’s Labrinth.
5.) Who is the baddest ever horror movie villain…and why?
Mick from Wolf Creek – cos he could be real.

7.) Name your Top 5 favourite horror movies of all time…and tell us why!!
Dawn of the Dead: COS IT’S FUCKIN’ DAWN OF THE DEAD (not to be confused with Dawn of the Dead)
Night of the Living Dead: Cos it introduced the world to gore and flesh eating zombies (ghouls).
Day of the Dead: Cos it was Romero’s follow up from Dawn and it took gore to new heights with Savini’s FX.
The Blair Witch Project: Cos it added something fresh to the genre and every town has legends – I live just off a road called Ladywood Road which, unbeknown to most people around my way, is named after Bluebell Wood, which is on a hill overlooking my village; do a bit of digging or speak to throwbacks and you’ll discover a sinister past involving a lady in white. Bluebell Wood was known as Lady Wood up until mid 19th century (anyone interested in making a location documentary?)
The Ring: Cos it’s pretty creepy.
8.) What underrated horror movie would you recommend to our readers just in case they have never seen it?
House of the Devil, cos it’s new, old school and Ti West is a brilliant director. Also Tucker & Dale vs Evil deserves a viewing cos it fucks with all the usual horror clichés, it’s fuckin’ hilarious.
9.) What is your guilty pleasure, the trashy horror flick that you hold dear but everyone else runs away from?
Theres loads, some trashy, some creepy nostalgic: Zombie Creeping Flesh, Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, The Gorgon, Night of the Demon (uk b&w) Salem’s Lot, the original Woman in Black, loads more……….
10.) What is the greatest ever horror movie poster?
Night of the Living Dead, closely followed by Dracula (1958 Hammer)
11.) Have you ever had a ghostly supernatural experience?
The vortex in Shipley Wood… WWWWwwwwwWWwwooooooooooo. FDCs may be shooting our next vid for From the Shadows there, maybe the vortex will return AND KILL, THE PEOPLE IT KILLS WILL GET UP AND KILL!……
12.) What ‘star’ of the music world would you like to see slaughtered in gory horror movie style?
Simon Cowell, he severely needs to have his chin-waisted slacks pulled up so high as to rip him from groin to chin, then force feed Cowell’s Bowels in a tit meat sandwich to Louis Walsh.
13.) What are your plans for Halloween this year?
To wear a sinister hooded cloak and get very drunk with my mate Enki.
